Bothongo Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve
Big-cat and game viewing at the Bothongo Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve in the Cradle of Humankind. Open Tuesdays to Fridays.
About this tour
The Bothongo Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve school tour, set in the Cradle of Humankind just outside Johannesburg in Gauteng, is a CAPS-aligned Life Sciences and Geography excursion for Grade 1–12 learners. It is one of the best big-cat and game-viewing days within easy reach of the city.
Guided game drives take learners past lions, rhinos, zebra, antelope and a wide range of plains game, with educators connecting the experience to ecosystems, food chains, biodiversity and conservation. The Cradle of Humankind setting also adds a layer of geological and heritage context to the day.
Wilrien School Tours handles the full educational excursion package: bus transport (if required) from your school, reserve entry, professional guiding and teacher support — making it one of the most requested Life Sciences school tours in Gauteng.
