Mandela House, Regina Mundi Church and Hector Pieterson Memorial. Drive past FNB Stadium, Baragwanath, Freedom Square and more.
About this tour
The Journey to Freedom Soweto school tour is one of Johannesburg's most powerful CAPS-aligned History excursions for Grade 4–12 learners. It walks classes through the township that became the heart of the anti-apartheid struggle and reshaped South Africa's road to democracy.
Learners visit Mandela House on Vilakazi Street, the only street to have housed two Nobel Peace Prize winners, the Regina Mundi Church and visit Hector Pieterson Memorial and Museum. The drive winds past FNB Stadium, Baragwanath Hospital, Freedom Square and other landmarks that bring the 1976 uprising and the broader struggle to life.
Registered Dedicated Wilrien Soweto Tour guide to Join the group on the bus and to guide along the way.
Wilrien School Tours handles the full educational excursion package: bus transport (if required) from your school, site access, professional guiding and teacher support — making it one of the most requested History school tours in Gauteng.
