A tour of the airport to better understand the tourism industry. This CAPS-aligned O.R. Tambo International school tour in Kempton Park, Gauteng, is built for Grade 6–12 Tourism classes and is led by a registered tourist guide who explains every aspect of the airport experience.
The following will be explained by the tourist guide:
1. Rules for bus companies (pick-up and drop off of passengers) 2. Car hire examples: Avis, Dollar Thrifty, Bidvest, etc. 3. International and domestic arrival halls and procedures 4. Change of money (Foreign Exchange) 5. SIM cards for international tourists 6. VAT Return 7. Wrapping of bags 8. Shops and restaurants 9. Self-help check-in service 10. Explanation of the information boards 11. Look-out over the airport — you will NOT see the inside of an airplane, only departure and landing 12. Explanation of the Gautrain 13. You will see the statues of Oliver Reginald Tambo 14. History of the O.R. Tambo Airport
