Cullinan Diamond Mine Tour
Surface mine tour, the McHardy Museum and the Diamond Room. Learn how diamonds are formed, mined and cut at this famous mine.
About this tour
The Cullinan Diamond Mine school tour, in the historic town of Cullinan just east of Pretoria in Gauteng, is a one-of-a-kind CAPS-aligned Geography and Natural Sciences excursion for learners aged 10 and up. This is the mine that produced the world-famous Cullinan Diamond — the largest gem-quality rough diamond ever found.
Groups take a surface mine tour with experienced guides, visit the McHardy House Museum, and step into the Diamond Room to see how diamonds are formed deep in the earth, mined from kimberlite pipes, and finally cut and polished. It is a vivid way to bring rocks, minerals and economic geography to life.
Wilrien School Tours handles the full educational excursion package: bus transport (if required) from your school, mine and museum access, professional guiding and teacher support — making it one of the most requested Geography school tours in Gauteng.
