About this tour
The Johannesburg Planetarium school tour, on the Wits University campus in Gauteng, is a CAPS-aligned Natural Sciences and Science & Technology excursion for Grade R–12 learners. Age-appropriate shows beam onto the iconic dome, turning the night sky and the solar system into an immersive classroom.
Foundation phase classes love “The Race to Earth”, while older learners explore stars, planets, satellites and space exploration in shows tailored to their grade. The planetarium's educators tie everything back to the curriculum, from day-and-night cycles to the structure of the universe.
Astronomy & Space: Features shows such as The Search for Life (narrated by Harrison Ford), Worlds Beyond Earth, Cosmic Collision, and The Sky Tonight for older Grades.
Wilrien School Tours handles the full educational excursion package: bus transport (if required) from your school, planetarium entry, professional guiding and teacher support — making it one of the most requested Science school tours in Gauteng.
